Jammu, Jan 06: Jammu and Kashmir is moving to secure cloud future as Mehgraj Services are set to roll out its operations. As per an official statement issued here, Secretary Information Technology (IT) Piyush Singla M chaired a significant meeting in his office chamber to review the hiring of Meghraj Cloud Services, a key initiative aimed at strengthening government IT infrastructure and accelerating digital transformation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of JaKeGA, Special Secretary IT Department, Director Finance, State Informatics Officer of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and other senior officials, ensuring comprehensive stakeholder participation and informed decision-making.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the foundational aspects of the project, including its conceptualisation and clear definition of scope to ensure alignment with the operational requirements of various government departments. Participants also reviewed approval mechanisms and implementation timelines, with a focus on financial concurrence and availability of funds to ensure timely budgetary support. Key resolutions included the preparation of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) document for incorporation into the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), execution of the MoU with NICSI and the selected service provider, and the streamlining of payment release mechanisms. A clear roadmap was also outlined for the operationalisation of Meghraj cloud services, including the constitution of a requisition committee to oversee modalities and execution.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary IT Piyush Singla said that Meghraj Cloud Services represent a transformative step towards providing a secure, scalable and sovereign cloud infrastructure tailored to public sector applications. He noted that the initiative would significantly enhance data management, cyber security resilience and overall efficiency in service delivery. He further stated that the initiative aligns seamlessly with national priorities under the Digital India programme, promoting innovation in government operations while safeguarding sensitive data through strong compliance frameworks and local hosting capabilities. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to pave the way for swift implementation of the project, positioning Jammu and Kashmir at the forefront of adopting advanced cloud technologies to strengthen governance and digital public service delivery.
