Srinagar, May 20: Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday informed that first among multiple SMC Covid Wellness Centre’s at Babademb is in a state of readiness to function as adjunct facilities with the designated Covid hospital JLNM at Rainawari.

The 50-bedded Covid Wellness Centre came up in the Babademb area of Srinagar city is fully equipped with the necessary facilities including oxygen concentrators, clean washrooms, 24x7 power backup, well ventilated and spacious rooms with round the clock doctors and paramedics to treat Covid patients.

According to officials, the CWC will be made functional in association with JLNM Hospital at Rainawari where a designated Nodal Officer will work in regular coordination with the Nodal Officer from SMC.

The CWC is monitored and managed by the designated Covid hospital JLNM to which the centre will be attached as an extension.

Mayor, SMC Junaid Azim Mattu expressed concern over the prevailing pandemic situation, saying this CWC will be taken as Level-II Covid Care Facility to manage mildly ill patients, referred from designated Covid hospital JLNM having physical proximity to the place.

The treatment regimen will be from the Covid hospital and there will be no change in the procedure unless authorized by the treating consultant.

Mayor informed this development in a meeting which was attended by Deputy Mayor Srinagar Parvez Qadri, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee SMC Tanveer Pathan, Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan, Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Samiya Rashid, Joint Commissioner (R) SMC Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Nodal Officer Masarat Hashim, HoD Chest Disease Hospital Dr Naveed Nazir, MS JLNM hospital, Health Officer SMC, Secretary SMC, Executive Engineer (Mech.) SMC, Chief Sanitation Officer SMC, Transport Officer and others.

During the meeting, the Mayor also took stock of the current status of Covid19 in the city and discussed further strategy for containment of the spread of the pandemic including the functioning of Covid Wellness Centers established by Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

He further said that two more Covid Wellness Centres which will act as emergency centre’s to the designated hospital of Srinagar at CD hospital, and SKIMS are in a process of preparation.

The Mayor said that SMC will provide its full support in rendering the services concerning sanitization and other basic facilities in case any hospital requires it.
