Covid Appropriate Behavior
As speculation about the third and more ferocious wave of
Covid-19 pandemic makes way, people can still be found neglecting the Covid-19
protocols, precautions and safety measures. The toll that this pandemic has
taken over the months, and particularly in the last several weeks, should have
been an eye-opener to all. Despite the death toll and increasing number of
cases, people still roam around without wearing masks; they don’t feel the need
of sanitizing their exposed bodies or maintaining social distance. To make
things worse, some of those who are caught ignoring important directions come
up with all kinds of excuses. For fact, the government issued health advisories
from time to time and has been spreading the needed information about the
deadly outbreak. If people still refrain from applying them, it is a recipe for
a much greater disaster. The behavior of people towards the pandemic and
dealing with it needs to change. It is serious and quite obvious by now.
The best health authorities can do as of now is to control the damage. That can
only happen if people on their part exhibit appropriate behavior. Those who
blame government or health authorities need to answer some of the disturbing
questions – despite the high risk of spreading the virus why are there still
mass gatherings on every other occasion, why people didn’t come forward to get
vaccinated which even forced the health authorities to push for them, why are
people shying away from responsibilities. The first and foremost job of the
government at these trying times is to save more and more people by whatever
infrastructure and resources it has. It cannot work if people are unwilling to
share the responsibility and keep waiting to shift the blame and score some
points. People at large should understand the importance of practicing social
distancing, maintaining hand hygiene in the fight against the pandemic. This
pandemic can be only fought with unity and not by being divided in opinions and
adopting reckless behavior. Maintaining social distancing and restricted
movement of people can help decrease the rate of covid transmission. The efforts of doctors, supporting staff and
other agencies at this point of time are laudable. These front runners toil
every day to keep us all safe. If we keep up our cavalier attitude now we are
only making their efforts of saving people go in vain. It has been proven beyond any doubt that
adopting covid appropriate behavior is the safest way to stop this deadly
transmission. In tough times it is all the more important that better sense
prevails.
