Corona curfew from today evening till Monday
Srinagar, Apr 28: Amid a COVID-19 spike, the government on Wednesday decided to impose an 84-hour-long corona curfew in 11 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the officials said.
The curfew will be imposed in 11 districts from Thursday 7 pm to Monday 7am. The 11 districts include Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kathua, Reasi, and Udhampur.
The officials said that the detailed orders would be issued by DCs under Disaster Management Act, listing out the prohibitions as well as permissible activities.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz taking to micro-blogging site Twitter said that Srinagar district will go under Corona curfew from Thursday 7pm till Monday 7 am.
"There will be Complete Lockdown in Srinagar District from 7:00 pm Thursday (29/04/2021) to 7:00 am Monday (03/05/2021). Exemptions apply to essential services. Detailed order shall follow (sic)," he said.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal through its official handle also announced lockdown till Monday morning.
“Keeping in view the surge in #COVID19, there will be a complete lockdown in the district from tomorrow (Thursday) 7 PM till Monday 7 AM. Please cooperate and stay indoors to break the chain. Orders in this regard with details of exemptions shall be issued separately..(sic),” Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal tweeted from its official handle.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary also took to social media to announce the lockdown.
“There will be Complete Lockdown in Pulwama District from 7:00 pm Thursday (29/04/2021) to 7:00 am Monday (03/05/2021). Exemptions apply to essential services. Detailed order shall follow. (sic),” Choudhary said.
Earlier, the administration had announced a 34-hour curfew from 8 pm on last Saturday.
Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported 30 deaths, highest ever since the pandemic and 3,023 new positive cases.
On April 8, a night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am was imposed in the urban areas of eight districts, which was extended to the municipal and urban local body limits of all the 20 districts on April 20.
