Govt closes all public parks, extends night curfew

Srinagar, April 25: Owing to the rise in Covid-19 positive cases, the government has decided to close all public parks across Jammu and Kashmir till further orders.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the state executive committee has ordered that all public parks in the UT shall remain closed for visitors.

"Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in J&K, State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 24 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby orders that all paid public parks in the UT of J&K shall remain closed for visitors till further orders(sic)," the official twitter handle of Department of Information and Public Relations announced. 

Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest single day spike of 2381 new positive cases of Corona-Virus on Sunday with 1533 cases reported  from Kashmir and 848 from Jammu. 21related  fatalities also reported including 10 in Kashmir and 11 in Jammu.

Meanwhile,  in another decision, the government has extended night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am instead of 10 pm to 6 am from Monday. 

"In view of prevailing #COVID19 situation, Jammu & Kashmir Govt orders that night curfew timings within the municipal limits/urban local body limits of all districts shall be from 8 pm to 6 am instead of 10 pm to 6 am (sic)," the twitter reads.
