Viral clip of cop repairing road in Handwara draws praise, exposes civic negligence

Handwara, April 12: A cop from Handwara Police is being widely hailed on social media after a video went viral showing him filling potholes on the Handwara bypass.

The video, shared by several users, describes him as a compassionate individual after he was seen repairing the damaged road surface. In the clip, the policeman is seen actively filling potholes, an act that quickly drew public attention and appreciation.

The identity of the police personnel could not be ascertained immediately, but his gesture has been widely praised by people across social media platforms.

The stretch along the Handwara bypass, which connects Kupwara to Baramulla, has developed several potholes over time. These damaged portions have caused inconvenience to passengers as well as pedestrians. Daily commuters have been facing difficulties due to the poor condition of the road, raising concerns about safety and travel delays.

Many people expressed anger against the R&B Department, Handwara division, for failing to repair the potholes despite the issue persisting for a long time. Social media users pointed out that road maintenance falls under the department’s responsibility.

At the same time, several users appreciated the policeman for stepping beyond his duty. The video continues to be widely shared, with many calling it an example of public service and responsibility.
