Srinagar, Jan 07: Four school heads from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected to participate in a prestigious national conference on school leadership organised by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in New Delhi later this month.
In an official communication, Professor Shashikala Wanjari, Vice-Chancellor of NIEPA and Head of its National Centre for School Leadership, announced that the selected educators will attend the National Conference on “Successful School Leadership: Innovative Pathways for Viksit Bharat@2047”, scheduled to be held from January 17 to 19, 2026, at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
The conference is part of NIEPA’s ongoing “Celebrating School Leadership” initiative, which invited school heads from government and government-aided schools across the country to submit case studies and video documentaries showcasing innovative leadership practices. The institute received over 300 entries nationwide, of which 55 were shortlisted after a rigorous evaluation process.
The selected participants from Jammu and Kashmir include Javid Ahmad Bhat, Head Teacher at Government Girls Middle School, Onagam, Bandipora; Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, Principal of PM SHRI Higher Secondary School, Dragger, Budgam; Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Principal of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Beerwah, Budgam; and Syed Istiyaq Ahmad, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Hawal, Pulwama.
During the three-day conference, the school heads are expected to present their leadership experiences and share best practices, highlighting innovative approaches to school management in alignment with India’s long-term development vision for 2047. Travel, boarding, and lodging expenses for the nominated participants will be borne by NIEPA, and participants have been advised to reach New Delhi by January 16, returning after the conclusion of the event on January 19.
As a deemed-to-be university under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, NIEPA’s National Centre for School Leadership continues to serve as a specialised institution dedicated to the professional development of school heads and educational administrators through conferences, seminars, and capacity-building programmes across the country.
