Says anti-drug drive intensified: ‘15-20 FIRs in last 10 days’
Srinagar, Apr 21: Assuring comprehensive security arrangements, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy on Tuesday said that Jammu & Kashmir Police are fully prepared to ensure a safe, smooth and peaceful Darbar Move from Jammu to Srinagar. He added that the anti-drug drive has been intensified.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event at Tagore Hall, the SSP said the annual exercise is being meticulously planned to facilitate the secure shifting of the Civil Secretariat and other government offices.
“We are preparing every year. A detailed plan has been formulated for the safe shifting of the Secretariat from Jammu to Srinagar. Adequate security arrangements will be in place, and the movement will remain peaceful and secure,” he said.
Dr Chakravarthy said that police deployment along convoy routes and around key installations is being strengthened to ensure foolproof arrangements during the move.
Highlighting the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, the SSP said Srinagar Police has significantly intensified its crackdown on drug networks over the past 10 days.
“In the last 10 days, we have registered around 15 to 20 FIRs and arrested several drug peddlers. Our efforts will continue with greater intensity in the coming days,” he said.
He stressed that the objective of the campaign is not limited to arrests but extends to dismantling the entire drug ecosystem.
“We are targeting not just individuals involved in drug trafficking but also their financial and property networks to completely disrupt the ecosystem,” he added.
On the occasion, the SSP appreciated the organisers of the event at Tagore Hall for promoting cultural heritage and communal harmony through the celebration of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening social unity and connecting youth with their roots.
He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir Police remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster peace, culture and harmony across the region.
