Zainab Bilal scores full marks in Computer; credits parents, teachers, Learning Resource Centre for support
Srinagar, Apr 15: Zainab Bilal, a resident of Iram Lane, Natipora, Srinagar, has become the first visually impaired girl from the Kashmir valley to secure 475 out of 500 marks in the CBSE Class 10 results declared on Wednesday, marking a rare academic milestone in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, an elated Zainab said, "I never thought I would score this high, but thanks to God, I got 475 out of 500." She secured full marks - 100 out of 100 - in Computer, reflecting her strong interest in the subject. Zainab said she had expected a good result but remained uncertain due to the challenging nature of CBSE papers, adding that regular study and focus helped her achieve the score.
Zainab credited her success to her parents, teachers, and school for their constant support, thanking her mother, father, and grandfather for standing by her throughout her journey. She acknowledged the role of Delhi Public School Srinagar and faculty members, including Vijay Dhar, for providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
She said the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) played a key role in her preparation by offering emotional and mental support, which helped her stay confident.
Speaking about her future plans, Zainab said she wants to pursue studies in computers, aiming for a Bachelor's in Computer Applications, and continue in the field of IT, an area she has been interested in since childhood.
Sharing a message for students, she stressed the importance of consistency, saying that even one or two hours of focused daily study can lead to good results if done regularly. She urged students to remain determined and not give up in the face of challenges, and appealed to parents of specially-abled children to support their wards, believe in their abilities, and never lose hope.
Her mother, Parveena, said children with challenges need to be treated with care and in a friendly manner, adding that a supportive environment at home and school helps build confidence and growth.
Zainab's achievement has drawn praise across Srinagar, with many describing it as an inspiring example for students across Jammu and Kashmir.
