Jammu, Dec 30: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Jammu of Crime Branch Jammu & Kashmir recorded a landmark performance in 2025 by disposing of a record number of cases and complaints and restoring crores of rupees linked to economic offences. The wing disposed of FIRs involving about Rs 20 crore and resolved 1,186 complaints during the year.
EOW Jammu registered 67 new cases in 2025, the highest in the last 25 years. A total of 22 accused persons involved in different FIRs were arrested. EOW teams were deputed across Jammu zone and other states for search and arrest operations. The cases involved complex fraud, cheating, forgery, job scams, financial irregularities, land frauds, visa frauds, impersonation cases, misappropriation of government money, and misuse of official position by public servants. Special focus remained on illegal job consultancies operating in Jammu zone.
Investigations required detailed scrutiny of documentary and digital evidence and close coordination with government departments, banks, and financial institutions. Organised networks of land brokers, habitual offenders, and professional fraudsters were identified and booked under the law, sending a strong deterrent message.
EOW Jammu also played a key role in public grievance redressal. Each of the 1,186 complaints was examined on factual and legal grounds.
Photo Sections of EOW Jammu, established in different districts, provided photographic coverage of 3,599 crime scenes across Jammu zone, strengthening evidence in cases registered at various police stations.
Under the guidance of Crime Headquarters J and K, the wing worked to prevent and detect economic crimes and spread awareness about new criminal laws. EOW Jammu thanked government departments, banks, and the private sector for their timely cooperation and information sharing and urged citizens to stay vigilant and report economic offences promptly.
