Jammu, Apr 15: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Reconstruction & Beautification Project of Ziarat Hazrat Peer Baba Panj Peer (R.A)’ at Manda in Jammu. The inauguration event was held by the Board after completion of the mega infrastructural project involving multi-layer constructions and beautification initiatives taken up by the Board last year. Waqf Chairperson was accompanied by the Special Officer of the Board Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Administrator Aabid Hussain, other officers, and members of civil society. Executive Officer Doda Javed Zargar and Executive Officer Poonch Wajid Khan also attended the event.

Dr Andrabi spoke to media after the inauguration and expressed her satisfaction on the completion of the project. “Baba Panj Peer Shrine is a very important spiritual destination of Jammu, revered by the people of all faiths. Waqf Board took up this mega project last year and completed it within the fixed timeline, upholding infrastructural standards and quality work,” she said.

She said that the Board is encouraged by the public response to the developmental initiatives at Sufi shrines across Jammu and Kashmir. “We feel encouraged to know that people across Jammu and Kashmir are labelling the past four years as a period of transformation and development with transparency in the Waqf Board. We are moving ahead with our mission of strengthening our spiritual centres and establishing Sufi centres as ideal places with all facilities and an aesthetically befitting environment,” the Waqf Chairperson said.
