Dr Andrabi inaugurates new facilities at Peer Dastgir Sahib shrine

Pledges continued support for spiritual, administrative needs during Meraj-e-Aalam Srinagar, Jan 07: Continuing the development initiatives of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Wednesday dedicated new infrastructural facilities at the revered Peer Dastgir Sahib Shrine in Khanyar, Srinagar. During the event held within the shrine premises, Dr Andrabi inaugurated the Administrative Block, Imam Residential Quarters, and an Open Ablution Facility. Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Hussain was also present. Addressing the gathering, Dr Andrabi highlighted the progress made over the past three years, stating, "After freeing the management of our shrines from political manipulation, a new era of development has begun across J&K." She said the Board’s resources are now effectively utilised for the construction, upgradation, and beautification of shrines, making them more visitor-friendly. "These achievements are due to the Board’s clear vision of transparency, accountability, and lawful management, transforming Waqf institutions into symbols of development and spirituality," she said. Dr Andrabi further added, "Today, Jammu Kashmir Waqf Board is synonymous with progress and vision. Our team works tirelessly to enhance facilities at all spiritual centrs across the Union Territory." Senior officials, including Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin and Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad, were also present. Later, Dr Andrabi chaired the Meraj-e-Aalam preparedness review meeting with administrative representatives. The meeting focused on coordinated efforts to facilitate devotees during the festival, and a comprehensive roadmap for effective services was outlined. She assured that the Waqf Board is ready to provide all necessary facilities and will collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth arrangements at major shrines. The meeting was attended by SP Hazratbal Hilal Ahmad, SDM Zubair Ahmad, DySP Traffic Mehmoob-ul-Haq, DySP Hazratbal Showkat Ahmad Beig, General Manager SRTC, Executive Engineer Water Works Aijaz Rafiq, BMO Dr Majid, AEE PDD Masroor Hussain, Sanitation Officer Mudasir Banday, and officers from other departments.
