Srinagar, Dec 25: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg on Thursday said the review of stamp duty rates is a routine administrative process, and new rates applicable from January 1 will be notified soon as per government norms. The Div Com made these remarks during a media interaction while responding to queries about the recently held meeting on stamp duty revision. “It is a routine administrative practice, and as a matter of norm, those rates will be notified soon,” he added. Speaking on winter preparedness across Kashmir, the Div Com said that planning and monitoring are being done at the highest level. “Winter preparedness is monitored from the top level, and the Chief Minister has also reviewed this issue in the last few days for the whole Jammu and Kashmir province,” he said. Garg said all departments have activated their winter action plans. “District-level control rooms have been activated by the Deputy Commissioners, and the divisional control room is running from the Integrated Command and Control Centre,” he said. He added that essential winter issues are being addressed in a time-bound manner, including snow clearance, power supply disruptions, timely replacement of damaged transformers, and ensuring sufficient stocks of ration and LPG. “Snow clearance, power disruptions, timely transformer replacement, winter dumping of ration and LPG stocks, helpline numbers, augmented health facilities and heating arrangements, all routine matters are being taken care of,” he said. The Div Com further said the health infrastructure has been strengthened for the season. “Our health facilities are fully augmented, and heating arrangements are available,” he added. He expressed hope that snowfall, currently affecting remote and hilly areas, will soon reach the valley floor, while the administration remains prepared for swift response. “The snow that has hit remote and hilly areas will soon reach the valley plains,” Garg added.
