DC Kathua reviews Republic Day preparations

Kathua, Dec 31: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma on Wednesday chaired a meeting of officers of line departments to review and finalise the arrangements for the Republic Day–2026 celebrations in the district. It was informed that the main function will be held at Kathua Sports Stadium, where the Chief Guest National Flag would unfurl the Tricolour at 9:55 AM, followed by a ceremonial parade comprising contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, PTS, Home Guards, NCC cadets and school children. The celebrations of the National Event will commence in the early hours of the day with Shehnai Vadan by the Information Department. The meeting held threadbare discussions on all logistical and security arrangements, including drinking water, power supply, sanitation, barricading, security and traffic regulation, seating arrangements, deployment of fire tenders, medical teams, illumination of government buildings and important landmarks. The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the departmental heads to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance for smooth, orderly and enthusiastic celebrations of the National Event. He emphasised effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure the success of the function.
