DC Budgam inspects key infrastructure projects in Beerwah

Budgam, Jan 07: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, DrBilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, on Wednesday conducted an on-spot inspection of the progress of key infrastructure projects in Sub-Division Beerwah of Budgam district. During the visit, the DC inspected District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) of Excellence, Beerwah, Bridge over Nallah Sukhnag at Beerwah on Magam–Beerwah Road, and Chewdara–Beerwah 3×37 metre Truss Girder Bridge. During the inspection of the DIET of Excellence, Beerwah, being executed by the PW(R&B) Department, Kashmir Division Beerwah, at an allotted cost of ₹ 5.92 crore, the DC reviewed the status of various components of the project, including the G+2 multipurpose academic block, 50-bedded female hostel, family quarters, canteen, and male/female/CWSN toilets. He was informed that works on different components are at advanced stages. The DC stressed upon maintaining quality standards and expediting the remaining works to ensure timely completion as per approved timelines. Inspecting the Bridge over Nallah Sukhnag at Beerwah on Magam–Beerwah Road, being executed under NABARD-RIDF XXX in EPC mode by R&B Division Beerwah, at an allotted cost of 799.65 lakh, the DC reviewed the ongoing foundation and pier works. He emphasized that the bridge is a vital urban connectivity project, which will facilitate smooth and all-weather movement, reduce traffic congestion within Beerwah town, and improve access for commuters and emergency services. The DC also inspected the Chewdara–Beerwah 3×37-metre Truss Girder Bridge, being constructed under NABARD-RIDF XXIX in EPC mode at an allotted cost of 1415.08 lakh. He was apprised that major components including abutments, piers, and concreting works have been completed, while work on approach roads is in progress. The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that the remaining works, including launching of girders, are completed within the approved timeframe. During the inspections, the DC emphasized strict adherence to timelines, quality control, and regular field-level monitoring. He directed the executing agencies to deploy adequate manpower and machinery at all sites and cautioned that unwarranted delays will not be tolerated. The DC reiterated that these projects are crucial for strengthening educational infrastructure, improving road connectivity, and ensuring overall socio-economic development of Budgam district, and assured continued monitoring by the district administration for timely completion. Besides, CPO Budgam, Executive Engineer PWD, Tehsildar Khanshaib, BDO, and other concerned officers accompanied the DC.
