CAPF meet on Amarnath Yatra security:IGP Kashmir calls for meticulous planning, seamless coordination

Srinagar, Apr 23: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Thursday chaired a high-level coordination meeting with officers of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to review and strengthen security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, as well as preparedness for the Annual Darbar Move.

The meeting witnessed participation from senior officers, including IG BSF Frontier Headquarters Srinagar, IG CRPF KOS, IG CRPF Srinagar, all range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, DIGs of CRPF South/North/SKOR, besides representatives from ITBP, Traffic Kashmir, CID Kashmir, Armed Kashmir, IRP Kashmir, and SSPs of various districts, including Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Budgam, Awantipora, and Bandipora. Officers from NDRF, SDRF, Civil Secretariat, and Army's 15 Corps were also present.

During the meeting, the IGP called for meticulous planning, particularly in the areas of logistical coordination, securing Yatra routes, and ensuring robust emergency response mechanisms. He underlined the importance of seamless coordination among all agencies, directing officers to evolve integrated and synchronised strategies in close collaboration with CAPFs and other stakeholders.

A detailed review of the overall preparedness framework was carried out, with a focus on strengthening communication channels and joint operational mechanisms to ensure swift and effective response to any emerging situation. "All agencies must remain aligned and fully prepared in view of the significance of the annual pilgrimage," he said.

Birdi also took stock of arrangements for the upcoming Darbar Move, directing officers to ensure foolproof security, efficient traffic regulation, and smooth transit of personnel and official records during the annual relocation of government offices.

Reaffirming its commitment, Jammu & Kashmir Police said they remain fully geared to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims and the general public, and to facilitate the peaceful and incident-free conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, alongside the secure and seamless execution of the Darbar Move.
