Woman Dies by Suicide in Baramulla Village

Srinagar, May 4: A 20-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after shooting herself with a 12-bore gun on Monday in Dudran village of Boniyar tehsil in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

 

According to police, the girl (name withheld) used a 12-bore firearm to shoot herself at her home.

 

A health department official in Boniyar told Rising Kashmir that she died on the spot and was later brought to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Boniyar for postmortem.

 

A police official confirmed that a case has been registered. “Preliminary investigation suggests that she used a 12-bore gun. However, further proceedings are underway, and we are also examining other angles,” the official said.

 

Medico-legal formalities have been completed, and the body has been handed over to the family.

 

“The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident,” the official added.
