Srinagar, Feb 05: The government's proposal for construction of a 249-bedded Mother and Child Care Hospital at Anantnag has been returned from the Finance Department with advice to identify clear source of funding provision other than NABARD, while the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department will be shifted from Sheer Bagh to MMABM Hospital after completion of required infrastructure, the Assembly was informed on Thursday.
In response to question tabled by MLA Reyaz Ahmad Khan in Assembly regarding shifting of Child and Maternity Hospital, the Health and Medical Education Department said that the Paediatric Department has already been shifted to the Ground Floor of Block-A at MMABM Hospital (Janglat Mandi), Anantnag while the Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBG) Department is still functioning from old Maternal & Child Care Hospital (M&CCH) Sheer Bagh, Anantnag and shall be shifted after completion of the required infrastructure at the newly identified site behind the Block “A” of MMABM Hospital, Anantnag.
The department said that land measuring 4.5 kanals (approx.) behind the Block “A” of MMABM Hospital, Anantnag at Janglat Mandi has been identified for the construction of 249-bedded M&CCH (Mother and Child Care Hospital).
For the purpose, the DPR (Detailed Project Report) for construction of 249-bedded MCCH Anantnag costing Rs 86.15 crore was prepared by PW(R&B) Department and was submitted to the Finance Department to seek financial concurrence for Accord of Administrative Approval (AAA) along with provisioning of funds through NABARD RIDF XXXI.
However, the proposal has been returned from Finance Department with the advice to identify clear source of funding provision of the said project other than NABARD besides incorporate Furniture and Furnishing items in the said DPR and accordingly, the revised financial implications are being worked out by the PWD division concerned.
Moreover, Rs 5.00 crore have been earmarked for the said project under Capex Budget 2025-26. The Department is also intending to propose the project under SASCI, in 2026-27 as additional source to fast-track completion, being a big-ticket project.
