Vishal, Musaif power JKCA Orange to title win

Srinagar, June 22: JKCA Orange (Jammu province) on Wednesday beat JKCA Yellow (Kashmir province) in Under-23 Men's One-Day Cricket tournament to lift the title by 7 wickets.

As per a statement, put into bat, Team Yellow, bundled were out for a paltry total of 74 runs. Qamran Iqbal (18) and Jiyaad Magrey (10) were the only two batsmen who crossed the double figure mark. For JKCA Orange, Vishal Kumar was the wrecker-in-chief who took 5 important wickets by conceding 18 runs, while Kawalpreet took 4 wickets by giving away 16 runs.

In reply, JKCA Orange rode on a  brilliant unbeaten 63 runs by Musaif Ajaz to surpass the target easily, losing 3 wickets in the process, thus winning the match by 7 wickets. Mujtaba Yousuf claimed 2 wickets by conceding 12 runs.

Vishal Kumar was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament while Musaif Ajaz was declared the best batter.The match was officiated by Deepak Gupta and Vikram Dogra as Umpires, while Ashok Singh and Akash acted as the scorers.

Later, while appreciating Talent Hunt 2022 initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) for tapping cricket talent at the grass-root level, Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu said that the time was ripe to look for more and more cricketers from J&K to represent India.

He said this during a valedictory function of Under-23 Men's One-Day Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground.

ADGP Jammu along with Mayor Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta were the Chief Guests on the occasion, while former First Class cricketers Nirmal Singh and Vidhya Bhaskar were the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Chander Mohan Gupta while appreciating the efforts of both the teams in displaying their skill amid hot weather conditions, lavished praise on JKCA, especially on the Sub Committee Members for exploring hidden talent of the players.

He said that JKCA was doing a great job in honing skill of the players, adding that the time was not far away to see a good number of cricketers representing India.

Both the dignitaries lauded the efforts of JKCA in providing the plyers cricket gear, infrastructural facilities and the platform to excel, the statement read.
