Sneak thieves add to patients' woes at Handwara hospital

Srinagar, Dec 08:  Sneak thieves have been roaming around District Hospital Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, making the lives of patients and attendants miserable.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, several patients, and their attendants alleged their valuables which include cash and mobile phones were stolen by thieves who often roam inside the hospital remises.
 Abdul Ahad Shiekh an attendant said, "I had visited hospital for treatment of my grandson, but unfortunately my mobile phone was stolen here by unknown people". Another lady attendant Shabnum Begum said her purse along with cash of rupees 3000 was stolen.
 Attendants while narrating the ordeal stated that the DH Handwara witnessed a rise in theft incidents from the past few months and appealed to authorities to identify those involved and book them.
Similarly, thieves snatched the mobile phones of Mohammad Safeer resident of Tangdar, and Farooq Ahmad Bandina resident of Monabal. "We had mobiles phones in our pockets but we are shocked how thieves managed to snatch them, " they said.
 A health worker at the hospital also said her purse alongwith Rs 2500 was stolen by the thieves.
 The locals urged authorities to look into the rising theft incidents in the hospital and demanded adequate security and monitoring at hospitals and other health centers.
 Medical Superintendent DH Handwara told Rising Kashmir urged upon victims to approach concerned police stations so that the whereabouts of stolen valuables are traced.
