Sarpanch among 3 booked under PSA in Kupwara

 Srinagar, Dec 30: Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday said it has arrested a Sarpanch and two others in frontier district Kupwara under Public Safety Act (PSA)for their involvement in narcotics peddling in the locality.
 As per the SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas, “The trio has been arrested and lodged in jail after PSA detention orders were issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir after PSA dossier was submitted by Jammu and Kashmir police from Kupwara district.”
Police said the trio were habitual drug peddlers and were luring the local youth towards the drugs in the area adding they were earlier also booked under-booked under NDPS cases.
 Police have identified them as Sarpanch Darpora Lolab, Manzoor Ahmad Lone (42) resident of Darpora Lolab who was booked three times already in drug-related cases, another drug peddler has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganie resident of Batpora Hayhama Kupwara was booked under NDPS in Kralpora, the third drug peddler has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat resident of Lalpora Kolav Kupwara also booked under NDPS case
 SSP Kupwara said that action over narcotic peddling is one of the top priorities of Jammu and Kashmir police for which necessary action, as well as preventive measures, are being taken and action against these three persons and their detention under the Public Safety Act is a step forward to tighten noose against the narcotic peddlers of the district.
