Strict Covid-19 SOPs in place at railway stations across Kashmir

No tickets without masks, violators will be fined: Railways official warns commuters

Posted on Jan 15, 2022 | Author Irfan Yattoo
Srinagar, Jan 16: Following the surge in Covid19 positive cases in Kashmir, commuters without masks will be denied tickets and penalized at all railway stations, officials said on Friday.
Chief Area Manager (CAM) Kashmir Railways, Sakib Yousuf said that there are strict SOPs in place across all the railways stations in Kashmir, and commuters without masks will be denied tickets at all railway stations.
He said fine of Rs 500 would be imposed on passengers who do not adhere to COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) when they are on a railway station premises or on a train journey.
Yousuf said the civil administration is cooperating with the railways to ensure that SOPs are being followed in letter and spirit by the passengers.
About the odd-even formula of seating arrangement, he said so far there are no directions from the Ministry or the government.
The CAM said proper Covid19 SOPs announcements are made through loudspeakers at all railway platforms and stations. Apart from that RPC (Railway Protection Force) and Government Railway Police (GRP) has been directed to take action against passengers for not following Covid19 guidelines and SOPs, he said.
Earlier on Thursday, authorities at Srinagar International Airport also restricted the entry for the travelers before three hours of departure.
