Srinagar, Apr 12: The blooming mustard fields across Kashmir has added a vibrant charm to spring landscape, emerging as a key attraction for tourists and giving a fresh boost to agro-tourism in the region.
Tourists visiting various destinations are increasingly drawn to these fields, where they spend time enjoying the scenic beauty, capturing photographs, creating reels, and sharing live moments on social media platforms.
Misha, a tourist from Delhi, told Rising Kashmir that she recently visited the valley to explore its spring season. “We visited Gulmarg, Doodhpathri, and Sonamarg, and found agro-tourism to be one of the major attractions during this time,” she said.
She said that mustard fields, with their bright yellow bloom, have become a favorite spot for visitors. “Tourists are spending time in these fields, clicking photos with their families, and recording videos to share with friends and relatives,” she added.
Misha said she also captured several photographs and created reels with her family. “The fields look especially beautiful as they are fully covered in yellow,” she said.
Another tourist, Adit, highlighted Kashmir’s year-round appeal. “The Valley is beautiful in every season, and each season has its own significance,” he said.
He added that during spring, visitors often combine trips to the Tulip Garden in Srinagar with stops at mustard fields. “Whenever tourists come across mustard fields, they stop their vehicles and spend time enjoying the view,” he said.
“We spent time near the mustard fields, even dedicating an entire day to it. Kashmir has immense potential to develop agro-tourism, which can turn agricultural fields into major attractions,” he said.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad, said that the growing popularity of mustard fields among tourists is a positive development.
“Farmers are cultivating mustard across agricultural and horticultural lands, and we are happy to see these fields becoming an attraction. The department is providing all necessary support to farmers who choose to grow mustard crops,” he said.
