Srinagar , April 27 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan has welcomed the judgment of the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, which quashed the detention of Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

The High Court set aside the detention order, bringing relief to Mehraj Malik, who had been held under preventive detention provisions.

Reacting to the judgment, Ramzan said the decision reinforces the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution. He added that preventive detention laws must be used carefully and strictly within legal limits.

He further stated that the verdict strengthens public trust in democratic institutions and underlines the need to follow constitutional principles in all administrative actions.

The judgment has been viewed as significant in the context of the use of preventive detention laws in the region.
