Deputy Commissioner Srinagar DrShahid Iqbal Choudhary Saturday issued orders for relocation of offices of 18 NaibTehsildars (Executive Magistrates) and one Block Development Officer of the district to their original designated places.
It should be noted that most of the offices of NaibTehsildars and an office of a BDO created in 2014 were still operating from Tehsil headquarters and had not been established at designated places.
The DC upon learning about it during his recent visit to various areas of the district ordered constitution of a committee headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar which would furnish details of all such offices operating from outside their areas of jurisdiction thereby putting public to inconvenience.
DrShahid has directed that the office of the BDO Khonmoh operating from Panthachowk shall now operate from Khonmoh for which a government building has been earmarked for shifting of offices.
The NaibTehsildars directed to shift their offices to locations notified by the government in 2014 include NT Chhatabal, NT Rambagh, NT Gogjibagh and NT Kothibagh in Tehsil South; NT Harwan and NT Nandpora in Tehsil North; NT Nowgam and NT Sanatnagar in Tehsil Chanapora; NT Buchwara and NT Khanyar in Tehsil Khanyar; NT Safakadal, NT Zoonimar, NT Soura and NT Zadibal in Tehsil Eidgah; NT Khonmoh in Tehsil Panthachowk; and NT Zainakote, NT HMT and NT Batamaloo in Tehsil Shalteng.
The order is to ensure decentralization of public service delivery and to minimise inconvenience to applicants and the general public of the district.
A committee comprising Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Chief Finance Officer Srinagar Smart City Limited has been constituted to workout infrastructure requirement for 18 offices of NaibTehsildars. The committee will keep in mind modernised service delivery to general public including digitised revenue extracts, certificates and other documents apart from convenience of business for visiting applicants across the district.
The ACR has been directed for immediate hiring of 18 buildings at notified locations for shifting of offices of said NaibTehsildars for a decentralized public administration and also furnish proposal for construction of office buildings at all these 18 locations to establish NaibTehsildar offices.
Meanwhile all Tehsildars have also been directed to furnish the demand for furniture, stationery and mobility for these offices to make them functional at an earliest.
The decision of the district administration to relocate 19 government offices is to put in place a decentralized public delivery system aimed at minimizing public inconvenience, enhancing efficiency of these government offices and modernizing them with latest technologies.
