Ganderbal, Apr 20: Under its Hindi training initiative, Rajbhasha Cell, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) commenced the four-day “Personal Contact Programme” for the employees registered under various Hindi training programmes, at the Tulmulla campus here Monday.
Inaugurating the programme, Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, appreciated the participation of representatives from multiple institutions and said, “such initiatives strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and provide a valuable platform for knowledge exchange.”
He further said the programme has attracted participants from nearly six institutions, underscoring its regional significance.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell in organizing the programme, emphasizing the importance of institutional support in implementing language policies. Underscoring the growing importance of Rajbhasha in official communication, Dr. Nisar said.
“In future, we are going to rely on this very heavily. This programme is an inspiration for us that we have to learn Hindi, and be in a position to speak, write, and read it.”
Key resource person, Dr. Rameshwar Lal Meena, Assistant Director (Languages), Central Hindi Training Institute (CHTI) elaborated on the structured framework of Hindi training courses offered by the Government of India. He explained that the programme is part of a broader effort that includes courses such as Hindi Prabodh, Praveen, Pragya, and Parangat, each designed to build progressively advanced language competencies among government employees.
He underscored that the initiative is not merely about language learning but also about enhancing administrative efficiency, confidence, and transparency. “The use of Hindi enables direct communication with citizens and contributes to a more accessible and responsive governance system,” he remarked.
In his address during the inaugural session, CUKashmir Librarian, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat emphasized the growing importance of Hindi as a functional language in governance and institutional communication. He noted that such training programmes serve as both an inspiration and a reminder for employees to develop proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Hindi.
Highlighting the availability of digital tools and institutional support, he encouraged participants to actively engage with both online and offline resources to improve their language skills and meet the increasing demands of official correspondence in Hindi.
Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakina Akhter, who conducted the programme proceedings, gave a detailed overview about the working of the Rajbhasha Cell. She said that after receiving proper training, majority of the employees are now able to make official and other correspondences in Hindi.
She added that the Cell is continuously organizing orientation programmes for the employees in order to make them fully acquainted with the Hindi language. Asst Reg EEW, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
