Srinagar, Apr 20: A five-day hands-on workshop on “Research Methodology and Biostatistics with SPSS” concluded at Bibi Halima College of Nursing and Medical Technology (BHCNMT), Rainawari, Srinagar. The workshop aimed at enhancing research skills and statistical knowledge among nursing professionals, faculty members, and students.
The workshop was inaugurated on April 15 by Chief Executive Magistrate, Ishiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, J&K Waqf Board. The event was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Muneera Kachroo, Principal of ARSH College of Nursing, Khunmoh, Srinagar, and Special Guest Shabir Ahmad Haji, Incharge Education, J&K Waqf Board.
Prof. Syed Tajamul Islam Bukhari, Principal of Bibi Halima College of Nursing and Medical Technology and Convenor of the workshop, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He highlighted the importance of research methodology and statistical analysis.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers from various reputed institutions who shared their expertise on research design, data analysis, and practical application of SPSS software.
The resource persons included Prof. Dr. Mehmooda Regu, Principal of Hanifa College of Nursing, Sopore and a prominent nursing figure in Kashmir; Dr. Pir Bilal Ahmad, Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, IUST; Dr. Kaisar Ahmad, Lecturer in Statistics at GDC Bemina; Prof. Sumaya Siddiqui, Professor-cum-Vice Principal, Govt. Nursing College Srinagar; Dr. Qazi Mohd. Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Community Medicine, GMC Handwara; Syed Arifa, Assistant Professor of Psychiatric Nursing, BHCNMT; and Latif Ahmad Bhat, Lecturer in Statistics at BHCNMT, who also served as the Organizing Secretary of the workshop.
Vice Principal Prof. Nasreen Jan, faculty members, and students of the college actively participated in the workshop. Each speaker delivered informative sessions, enlightening participants on significance of evidence-based research and statistical interpretation in healthcare studies.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of BHCNMT stressed the need for conducting more such workshops in the future, stating that such academic initiatives not only keep teachers professionally updated but also boost students’ morale and confidence in research activities.
The workshop concluded in the presence of Shabir Ahmad Haji, Incharge Education Officer, J&K Waqf Board; Prof. Dr. Muneera Kachroo, Principal of ARSH College of Nursing; Vice Principal Prof. Nasreen Jan; and faculty members of BHCNMT.
