Srinagar, Feb 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly that 480 posts of medical officers have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) for recruitment.
The details were provided in reply to a question asked by MLA Chander Parkash on sanctioned/in-position strength of Doctors and Paramedical staff along with vacancy position in District and Sub-District hospitals with particular reference to Samba District.
The reply said the District Hospital Samba has a sanctioned strength of 81 posts, out of which 52 are filled, while 27 remain vacant. Similarly, Sub District Hospital Ramgarh has a sanctioned strength of 42 posts, with 26 in position and 16 lying vacant.
The government stated that in order to ensure the availability of healthcare personnel/staff at District Hospital (DH) Samba and Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Ramgarh, appropriate administrative arrangements, including rationalisation of staff and implementation of duty rosters, have been put in place by the respective Heads of Institutions.
In addition, the services of healthcare personnel engaged under the National Health Mission (NHM) are being utilised to supplement the existing staff strength.
With regard to filling up vacant posts, the Government said it has recently referred 480 posts of Medical Officers to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) for recruitment.
“Upon completion of the selection process, the newly selected doctors shall be posted to far-flung and underserved areas, as well as to health institutions facing acute staff shortages, including DH Samba and SDH Ramgarh, strictly in accordance with the prevailing policy and requirements,” the house was informed.
Further, 292 vacant posts pertaining to Family Welfare, Maternity and Child Health (MCH), and Immunisation, J&K, along with 290 vacancies in the non-gazetted/paramedical category under the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (J&KSSB) for recruitment.
The reply said that these measures are expected to substantially augment and strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved areas.
Additionally, 608 vacancies (Non-gazetted/Paramedical/MTS) pertaining to the Jammu Division are currently under examination in the Administrative Department and shall be referred to the J&K Services Selection Board for advertisement and recruitment after obtaining the requisite concurrence of the Finance Department, the reply added.
