155 teaching posts lying vacant in Karnah AC: Govt

Srinagar, Feb 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has acknowledged a significant shortage of teaching staff in schools of the Karnah Assembly Constituency, with as many as 155 posts lying vacant across different categories. Replying to a question raised by MLA Javid Ahmad Mirchal, the Minister in charge of School Education informed the House that Karnah Constituency has 83 sanctioned posts of Lecturers, of which 28 are currently working, while 55 posts remain vacant. Similarly, out of 98 sanctioned posts of Masters, 63 are in position and 35 posts are vacant. In the Teachers’ category, the constituency has 224 sanctioned posts, with 159 teachers presently working and 65 posts vacant. the Minister clarified that the vacant posts of Teachers are currently frozen, and therefore, are not being treated as effective vacancies. Addressing concerns over staff shortage, the Minister said that the deficiency would be managed through rationalization of staff and by engaging Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs). The Minister informed that the department has already referred 594 posts of Lecturers to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for recruitment. The Minister also said that the School Education Department is in the process of effecting promotions of PG Masters and Teachers as Lecturers, and Teachers as Masters , which is expected to substantially ease the shortage of Lecturers and Masters across the Union Territory, including the Karnah Constituency.
