Posted on Jun 23, 2022 | Author Saba Khan
Srinagar, June 22:The E-buses of Road Transport Corporation (RTC) were off the roads on Wednesday because of the waterlogged roads. The Electric buses are battery-operated and can get damaged by the water.
Habibullah, RTC General Manager while speaking to Rising Kashmir said that the department has decided not to ply e-buses on the roads to avoid the damage. However, the other RTC buses that run on diesel would ply normally, he added.
"Manyroads are waterlogged due to the incessant rains and it is impossible to operate electric buses in the city,” Habibullah said.
However, locals suffered due to the non-availability of transport and commuters find it difficult to commute across the city.
Pertinent to mention, RTC has 20 e-buses plying on the city routes. Soura, Hazratbal, Harwan, Pampore, Qamarwari, Narbal, chadoora, Newakhandah Budgam, Saibugh, Pantha Chowk are some of the routes where these electric buses ply.
Yaseen Ahmad, a resident of Solina area of Srinagar said,  “People find it hard to reach their respective destinations as there was a thin movement of the vehicular moment.”
