Two drug peddlers held with charas in Sopore

Srinagar, Aug 11: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession on Wednesday.
 
A statement said, officers at a checkpoint established at village Wapora Rafiabad intercepted two persons from whom 120 grams of charas was recovered.
 
The arrested were identified as Irshad Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Muhammad Lone, a resident of Wapora Rafiabad and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Lone son of Ghulam Muhammad Lone, a resident of Khushipora Rafiabad.
 
“They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” the statement said.
 
Accordingly, a case FIR 86/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Panzla and further investigation is underway.
 
Meanwhile, police have urged community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
