Srinagar, Sep 06: After the gap of the five days, the Baramulla-Banihal train service will resume its operations from Tuesday onward, officials on Monday confirmed.
Chief Area Manager, Sakib Yousuf told Rising Kashmir that train services will be resumed on Tuesday and all preparations have been finalized in this regard.
He advised all passengers to follow all COVID-19 related SOPs. If anyone will be found without masks will be fined as per the existing norms, the CAM said.
The 137-kilometer Banihal-Baramulla railway line comprises of 17 stations.
Earlier on Sep 01, the administration had suspended the train services across the Valley following the demise of 92-year-old veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar.
Another northern official at railways said the odd-even formula of seating arrangement will be followed in all trains and no tickets will be issued to passengers without masks.
“On each train, there is the seating capacity of 690 persons but only 250-350 seats will be occupied by the passengers. Proper COVID19 SOPs announcements will be made through loudspeakers at all railway platforms and stations,” he said.
The official said apart from that RPC (Railway Protection Force) and Government Railway Police (GRP) has been directed to take action against passengers for not following Covid19 guidelines and SOPs.
