Traffic cop injured in Rajouri Kadal attack

Searches underway to nab culprits: Police

Srinagar, Dec 01: A traffic policeman was critically injured after unknown gunmen shot him at a close range in the Rajouri Kadal area of old city of Srinagar on Wednesday evening.
The injured traffic cop was identified as Mohammad Abdullah, (Belt no 307 TR), a resident of Kangan Ganderbal, who deployed at Rajouri Kadal to streamline the traffic movement.
Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital Srinagar, Dr. Kawarjeet Singh said the cop has received three bullets in the upper body and is being operated on at the hospital. 
As per a Police spokesman, “terrorists fired upon and injured traffic police personnel who were busy in regulating traffic at Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar. He has been shifted to the hospital.
“The area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow.”
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that Abdullah was shot from a close range in Rajouri Kadal.  He was immediately rushed to the hospital. He is responding to the treatment.
“Area has been cordoned off and searches are underway in the area to nab the culprits behind the attack,” the police officer said.
