Posted on Jan 28, 2022 | Author Aatif Qayoom
Srinagar, Jan 27: Residents of New Colony Tarhama in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday expressed strong resentment against PDD for failing to repair the transformer damaged weeks ago.
The inhabitants of this area told Rising Kashmir that the transformer got damaged several times in the past and was subsequently taken to a workshop for repair. However, the transformer got damaged again after working for a few days.
Suhail Ahmad, a local, said they are facing extreme hardships due to the non-availability of electricity in the locality. He claimed that the transformer had been damaged more than six times in the last two months.
Every time we take the transformer to the workshop for repair, it gets damaged only after working for a few days.
The aggrieved residents said they have requested the concerned officials several times to upgrade the transformer in the area, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
"If we are paying hefty electricity tariff bills, why can't we get proper electricity?" the angry residents questioned?
“Our children are unable to take warm baths as there has been no electricity in the locality for weeks, "they added.
The inhabitants of the village have urged the department to upgrade the transformer in the locality to avoid further inconvenience to the people.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Executive Engineer Tangmarg Bashir Ahmad said that "their area it is not feasible to get a 100KV transformer."
He stated that they will be provided with a "level II" transformer in the coming days to alleviate their inconvenience.
