Srinagar, Aug 01: To ease the passenger facilitation service during adverse weather conditions, Srinagar International Airport has made the fifth aerobridge operational on Sunday, officials said.
Director Srinagar International Airport, Santosh Dhoke told Rising Kashmir that they have made an operational fifth aerobridge which would provide big relief to the passengers.
“We have already four aerobridges operational at the airport and the recent one was commissioned last month and is now functional,” he said.
Dhoke said it is helpful during adverse weather conditions and passengers won’t face any inconvenience. “If passengers only exit through an aerobridge, an average time of 15-20 minutes is required for disembarkation. This will definitely affect our on-time performance,” he said.
Director said the cargo building which has been under construction for several years will likely be completed by the end of October month.
“We have completed almost 80 percent work of the building and it will likely be completed by the end of October this year,” he said.
In view of increasing demand of supply of goods, the cargo terminal is being constructed and under the Common User Domestic Cargo Terminal (CUDCT) project has been undertaken by the Airports Authority of India.
