Posted on Sep 11, 2021 | Author RK News
Srinagar, Sep 10: Kashmir University’s Markaz-i Noor Centre for Shaikh-ul-Aalam Studies (CSAS) organised an extension lecture titled “Justice, Feminine and the Quran”.

The extension lecture was delivered by Prof Idrisa Pandit, Associate Faculty at Luther University College, Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.
Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, former Dean Academic Affairs and Professor of History, University of Kashmir, presided over the function.

Prof G N Khaki, Chairman Markaz-i Noor, Centre for Shaikh-ul Aalam Studies welcomed the guest speaker and enlightened the audience on the objectives of the Centre while emphasising its commitment to disseminating the message of Hazarat Shaikh-ul Aalam(RA), the great Sufi saint of Kashmir.

Prof Idrisa Pandit, in her thought-provoking lecture, invoked the stories of women in the Quran to explicate lessons from these stories, and their possibilities in helping shape our ongoing struggle of reclaiming the Quranic principles of justice, especially in enabling suppressed gender histories. The spirit of the lecture was in tune with the teachings of Shaikh-ul Aalam (RA) who advocated the idea of Quranic justice to reform Kashmiri society.

Professor Ashraf Wani, in his address as the Chair, appreciated the contents of the lecture while reminding the audience, particularly the students, to stand committed to academics, research and advocacy.
The lecture was attended by prominent academicians, faculty members and scholars of the University. A substantial number of participants also joined the lecture through online mode as well.

Once there is rainfall, all runoff and other waste from the landmass directly drains out into the Dal which becomes a reason the water body gets muddied and at many places chocked.
