Precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine begins in Budgam

Budgam, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza on Monday inaugurated the precautionary dose vaccination at Aga Syed Yousuf memorial Hospital Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion Mirza said that a precautionary dose of Covid vaccine is to be given to health care and frontline workers, and people aged 60 and above with comorbidities.
On the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr Tajamul Hussain Khan expressed his happiness over precautionary dose vaccination.
He said the precautionary vaccine dose has been started at a time when coronavirus infection in the country is on a steep upward trajectory.
He clarified that there is no need to register for the precautionary vaccine doses, those eligible can directly take an appointment or walk into any vaccination centre.
The CMO further said that there will be no mix and match of vaccines i-e the third dose will be the same vaccine that people have received for their first and second doses.
The Deputy Commissioner Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza emphasized that as the third Covid-19 wave driven by omicron variant is sweeping the country, administering booster doses to vulnerable sections of the populace is vital.
He further said that under this campaign over 1 lakh people shall be given the booster doses across the district.
He instructed CMO Budgam to inspect oxygen plants in the district in view of apprehensions of the third wave. Later, the DC personally inspected the oxygen plant site at District Hospital Budgam.
Deputy CMO Budgam, Medical Superintendent DH Budgam and other dignitaries from health and administrative department were present on the occasion.
