Locals demand desilting of Nallah Khrusoo in Sopore

Sopore, Dec 28: A group of people from Tarzoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Tuesday demand complete desilting of Nallah Khrusoo and urged district administration to remove illegal encroachments for its complete restoration.
Residents said, Nallah Khrusoo, that originates from Puthkha to Lalad and then to Amargrah and finally joins river jehlum, has been encroached at various spots while the Irrigation department has failed to maintain the canal.
Bilal Ahmed Dar, a resident of Tarzoo said that they urged the irrigation department to remove the silt from the canal but ironically they continue to ignore our repeated pleas.
Javed Ahmed Sofi , Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Department of Sopore told Rising Kashmir that the matter has been taken up . "Desilting process will start soon and the matter of illegal encroachment will be resolved," he said.
