Intl Human Rights Day observed in Shopian

Shopian, Dec 10: A function to observe International Human Rights Day was held Friday at Shopian under the aegis of Chief Education Officer Shopian in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Shopian. 
A large gathering of officers and officials from the Department of Education and District Legal Services Authority besides scores of students were present on the occasion. 
The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian Mohammad Mushtaq inaugurated the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO said it is important to observe such days to remind us of our rights as human beings. He said no human being should ever be discriminated against on the basis of Colour, Cast, creed or gender. 
He also said all the human beings should be treated with equality and dignity besides he also stressed on avoiding of child abuse in the society.
Meanwhile, the Secretary District legal Service Authority Sajad Ahmad Khan stressed on awareness of legal rights of human beings and assured legal awareness programmes will be held in the schools from time to time for general awareness of legal rights among the students.
 
 
DM pays surprise visit to Shopian hospital
 The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Friday paid a surprise visit to District Hospital Shopian to oversee the medicare facilities being provided to the patients admitted in the hospital, besides other heating arrangements.
Vaishya also inspected various sections of the hospital including Emergency, Operation Theater, ECG Unit, Dental Section, X-Ray, Gynae, Post-Operation Wards, OPD, IPD, Store and other sections.
The DM directed the Hospital Staff to ensure availability of essential medicines and other diagnostic equipment. He also directed for adhering to the office timing to avoid inconvenience to the patients.
Vaishya on the occasion interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities being provided by the Hospital Administration to them.
He also directed for providing better heating system to the patients keeping in view the ensuing harsh winter besides other facilities being made available to patients and directed for further improving the health care facilities in the hospital
DM was accompanied by Tehsildar Shopian and other concerned health functionaries during the visit.
