Sopore Jan 27: The building of a Government Primary School in Sagipora Panipora Zone of Sopore is lying in shambles as authorities have failed to renovate the establishment for the last two decades.
Locals of the area expressed their resentment against the authorities for failing to resolve the issue in 2009.
Mohammad Maqbool Bhat , a local resident of Zaloora said the school has a strength of nearly 200 children and it was constructed in 2009 but surprisingly within 11 years this building has turned into shambles.
"Its tin roof has been badly damaged and several widows are missing. Even villagers brought the matter to the notice of district authorities but nothing has been changed on the ground, leaving students and staff to hardships," he said.
Bhat said during rain, the water enters into rooms and forces school authorities to shut the school. “There is no compound wall in the school as such stray animals often enter the premises," he said.
Another local, Aqib Bhat said that some cosmetic repair work was done in 2015 and following inadequate funds work was stopped.
Zonal Education Officer, (ZEO) Sopore Abdul Salaam, told Rsing Kashmir that he will look into the matter.
