DC Shopian for expeditious disposal of cases under FRA

Shopian, Dec 21: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Monday chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Arhama here to review the implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA) and related measures for expeditious disposal of cases.
The DC directed Divisional Forest Officer, Shopian for disposal of all pending cases under the Act.
He emphasised for adopting a coordinated approach for its effective implementation and for timely verification to ensure speedy disposal of cases submitted for in this regard.
The meeting discussed in detail the measures to be taken to dispose-off the claims, ensure effective working of the committee constituted under FRA, mapping of the Forest areas and other issues.
Vaishya impressed upon the Committee members to ensure thorough verification of the claims as per guidelines and for submitting the claims received so far to DLCs after verification.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on different aspects of the Act was held wherein the concerned officers of Forest, Revenue and Rural Development Department briefed the DC about the current status and other related necessities with regard to its implementation at grassroots level.
 Additional District Magistrate, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Divisional Forest Officer, Assistant Commissioner, Panchayat, Block Development Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
 
‘Prepare comprehensive disaster management plan’
 The District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Monday convened a meeting of the officers of Disaster Management to review the requirement of funds for disaster preparedness and mitigation in the district.
During the meeting, various issues with regard to the Emergency Operation Center, establishment of temporary EOS, assessment of the resources and status, besides identification of vulnerable areas were discussed threadbare.
Speaking on the occasion, the DM impressed upon the officers to make sufficient stock essentials available for the purpose.
He directed for preparing a comprehensive disaster management plan so that the required manpower, machinery and material can be arranged well in time.
Vaishya said that the District Disaster Management Plan is one such tool that facilitates efficient measures during natural calamities and enables Administration to facilitate the masses of the district. He added that it guides in responding to a disaster, if ever occurring in the district.
Additional District Magistrate, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, SDM, Zainapora, Ex. Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B, Mechanical, Tehsildars, BDOs and other concerned participated in the meeting.
