Suspected IED Found on Handwara-Mawer Road

A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered by a Border Security Force (BSF) Rapid Action Team (ROP) on Monday morning near Maratgam village on Handwara-Mawer road.

An official source told that the ROP of BSF discovered a polythene bag beneath the culvert and they are currently investigating the matter.

As per locals, the traffic on this road has been halted.

Meanwhile, the PRO BSF issued a statement stating, "Detection/Recovery of IED. At approximately 0745 hrs on June 12, 2023, the ROP party of E/54 Bn BSF, under the operational control of SHQ BSF Kupwara, detected and recovered an IED in the general area of Bhattpura village, near a culvert on the Handwara-Naogaon state highway.
