Says he encourages his friends from the film industry to shoot in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 30: Noting visible improvements in infrastructure and tourism amenities in Kashmir, Bollywood singer Salman Ali on Thursday said the warmth of the people, along with the Valley’s natural beauty and vibrant culture, continues to draw him back time and again.

Salman Ali is currently in the Valley shooting for a music video. According to organisers, filming has taken place at several scenic locations, including Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh, and the Harwan area.

Speaking to Rising Kashmir during his ongoing visit to the valley, the singer said Kashmir holds a special place in his heart. “It is the love of the people, the weather, the culture, and the positive atmosphere that brings me back here. There is hardly anyone who wouldn’t want to visit Kashmir. God has made this place so beautifully,” he said.

He pointed to the growth of new cafés and better facilities around Dal Lake as signs of the region’s evolving tourism landscape.

Ali described Kashmir as a therapeutic destination, saying even those dealing with stress or depression could find solace in its surroundings.

“This place is so special that if someone is feeling low, I would recommend visiting Kashmir,” he added.

Calling Kashmir one of his favourite destinations, the Indian Idol season 10 winner said he actively looks for opportunities to shoot his music in the valley. “I prefer to shoot nearly 90 percent of my songs in Kashmir. The vibe here is different, and you get every facility and location required for shooting,” he said, adding that he is currently working on multiple projects for his YouTube channel.

“This time, I am shooting four to five songs here. Kashmir is truly a paradise, and I don’t see any place more beautiful than this,” he said.

Highlighting the region’s potential beyond traditional locations, Ali said Kashmir offers much more than snow-clad mountains and scenic landscapes. “There are many unexplored places here. One does not need to go to places like Switzerland when you can find even better locations in Kashmir,” he remarked.

The singer said he frequently encourages his friends from the film industry to visit and shoot in Kashmir. “I always recommend Kashmir to my friends in Bollywood. Whether it is for work or leisure, Kashmir remains my first choice,” he said, adding that he plans to stay in the valley for about a week.

During his visits, Ali said he makes it a point to experience local culture and cuisine. “I enjoy exploring local traditions and food. In winters, I love eating dishes like Harissa and Wazwan. The hospitality in Kashmir is exceptional, with comfortable hotels and warm staff,” he said.

Referring to last year’s incident in Pahalgam, he termed it unfortunate but expressed hope for normalcy. “It was an unfortunate incident. Everything will be fine with time,” he said.

Ali also praised Kashmiri artists, calling them talented and professional. “I have worked with local artists like Mateena Rajput. They are amazing and highly skilled,” he said.

The singer shares a long-standing association with Kashmir and has frequently visited the valley for shoots and performances. He has collaborated with noted musician Salim Merchant and has previously held a music concert in Srinagar.
