Srinagar, Apr 30: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an advisory for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026.
According to the Director Examinations, all candidates will be required to undergo mandatory biometric verification after the frisking process and before entering the examination hall.
The NTA clarified that candidates should not panic if biometric authentication cannot be completed due to technical issues such as device malfunction, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity problems with UIDAI, or medical conditions.
“In such cases, candidates will still be allowed to enter the examination room after submitting a written undertaking. The required format will be made available at the examination centre,” the advisory said.
The NTA further assured that candidates will not be disturbed for biometric procedures during the examination hours, which are scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (extended up to 6:00 PM for PwD/PwBD candidates).
Regarding permitted items, candidates are allowed to carry transparent water bottles. Those wearing articles of faith, full-sleeved clothing, or woollens must report to the centre well in advance to facilitate proper frisking. Footwear guidelines recommend slippers or low-heeled sandals.
For queries, candidates can contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or email at [neetug2026@nta.ac.in](mailto:neetug2026@nta.ac.in).
As per official data, a total of 22,79,743 candidates have registered for NEET (UG) 2026. Of these, 13,32,928 are female candidates, accounting for 58 per cent, while 9,46,815 male candidates constitute 42 per cent of the total registrations.
The NTA has urged all candidates to adhere strictly to the guidelines and cooperate with examination staff to ensure the smooth conduct of the test.
