Youth injured in Bear attack in Tangmarg

A youth on Wednesday was injured in a leopard attack in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
 Imtiyaz Ahmad, son of Abdul Ahad Mir was asleep in his orchard in Hardabura village of Kunzer last evening when a bear appeared in the orchard and carried out a surprise attack on the youth.

The screams of the youth, eyewitnesses said attracted the attention of the people who rushed to the spot and saved the youth from the clutches of bear. The youth was rushed to the nearby Tangmarg hospital for treatment.

Pertinently, Imtiyaz is the sixth victim of man-animal conflict in the area. Four people including a woman have been attacked and injured in the last one month.  

Eyewitnesses said that a group of wild bear is  Tangmarg since last month attacking humans and cattle. They said more than a dozen cattle have perished as the wild animals make frequent visits to the villages.
