Workshop on research methodology for scholars begins at KU

A week-long workshop on Research Methodology for scholars in social sciences began at the conference hall of the UGC-academic staff college of the University of Kashmir on Tuesday.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof A M Shah, Registrar KU, Prof Syed Fayaz, Director Acadamic Staff College, Dr Farooq Fayaz and programme coordinator, Dr Showkat A Shah were present on the occasion
 Prof A M Shah Dean Academic Affairs in his address said he is delighted to see research scholars being trained this time for research methodology. Prof Shah told the scholars to be clear about their research objectives. He told them to have an extensive review of the literature about the research questions they are focusing. Prof Shah said as Dean Academics while going through various synopsis of prospective scholars he at times sees a missing links between hypothesis and the objectives. “Be very careful while preparing the synopsis,” he advised the participants.
In his address Prof Syed Fayaz while congratulating the director for making the ASC vibrant and said that such activities will for sure raise the academic standard at KU and help and improve the quality of teaching.  Saying that KU is presently on the research mode Prof Fayaz informed the audience that present Vice chancellor is trying to change the dynamics of research at the campus.  Such workshops provide an opportunity for teachers and scholars to share and consolidate their experience and prepare themselves for applied research, said Registrar. He advised the scholars to write in reputed, peer reviewed, indexed journals where they can be sighted.
In his welcome address Dr Farooq Fayaz Director academic staff college said that the Academic Staff College, KU is the premier institution of the state for the up gradation of knowledge and skills of college and university teachers. He requested the scholars to get largely benefited from the course by interacting with the resource persons.
Course coordinator Dr Showkat while underlying the need for organizing the courses said that our scholars lack proper guidance in research methodology. The more our scholars are aware of the techniques of the research methodology it will be easier for them to carry the research, he said.  Assistant professor ASC, Idreees Yousuf presented the vote of thanks.
