Srinagar: The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat(TeH) Thursday castigated the government for denying passport to Haj aspirants under the pretext of some of their relatives' association with pro-freedom groups like the TeH .
“This is an open interference in our religious matters as Hajj is among the five basic pillars of Islam,” a spokesman said in a statement issued to a local news gathering agency PBI.
The spokesman also condemned the police crackdown on people visiting the Hurriyat Conference(G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his Hyderpora residence on wednesday. “Harassing and intimidating people through arrests and undue questioning shows the frustration of the government”, the spokesman said.
The spokesman termed the withholding of salaries of government employees, on the occasion of Eid as unfair.
