‘Admit wards in government schools to avail scheme’

Director School Education Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Itoo, on Thursdaysaid a good chunk of teachers and students would be sent on a study tour outside Jammu and Kashmir for cultural exchange in the winter months.
He also appealed to parents to admit their wards in government-run schools so that they can avail benefits under various state and centrally sponsored schemes.
He was speaking at a function here. Website for the directorate’s Rainawari Zone of Srinagar was launched on the occasion.
According to a government spokesperson, the website would provide “instant information” to the teachers as well as the student community in a user-friendly interface.
The website—www.ZeoRainawari.com—isa joint venture of the directorate and a non-governmental organization, Pratham.
The website was launched on the concluding day of a training programme titled ‘Modern Concept of Education’ which was divided into three parts for the teachers of the Rainawari Zone, the spokesperson said in a statement.
“The Director School Education said such programmes will be initiated in the different parts of the Kashmir Division as well. He said such programmes are aimed at expanding the mental horizon of students,” the statement read.
Later, he distributed certificates and mementoes among participants.
The programme was attended by Deputy Director of News, Radio Kashmir, Srinagar; Principal of the District Institute of Education and Training; Deputy Chief Education Officer, Education; Zonal Education Officer, Rainawari; and others.
