Army conducts search operation in Uri
An army sentry posted at Rajarwani Artillery unit in Uri area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district Monday morning opened speculative fire after noticing some suspicious movement around the camp.
A police official in Baramulla said at around 3 am, an army sentry posted with Artillery unit at Rajarwani Uri noticed some suspicious movement around the camp and resorted to speculative firing.
Immediately after the incident, the area was cordoned off by joint teams of army, police and CRPF.
The forces conducted massive searches in and around the camp.
“During the searches, two people were spotted in nearby Nallah and they were checked out. However, there was no militant attack as was reported by some news channels,” said a police official, who was part of search operation.
He said no fire was reported from other side.
“It was just a speculative fire by the sentry on seeing suspicious movement," he said adding the cordon and search operation was called off after nothing was found in the area.
