Student protests rock Valley, several injured

Scores of students were injured in clashes with government forces at different places across Kashmir on Monday

Students from several colleges took to streets in solidarity with Pulwama students. 

More than 50 students were injured in Pulwama Degree College on Saturday after government forces resorted to cane charge against agitated students of the college.

SP COLLEGE PROTEST

The first incident of protest was reported Monday morning from SP College where students gathered to protest against the police beating of students in Pulwama Degree College. 

Several students and a police officer were injured in massive clashes that broke out in SP College and SP Higher Secondary School premises.

Witnesses told Rising Kashmir that police stopped students from taking out a procession that led to clashes. 

Police resorted to heavy tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters injuring scores of students.

 

GOVT WOMEN’S COLLEGE, M A ROAD SRINAGAR 

Hundreds of students of Government Women’s College also took to streets in solidarity with Pulwama Degree College students.

 The witness told Rising Kashmir that many girls were raising anti-India slogans when Police dispersed them by firing tear smoke shells.

 One of the student of the college told Rising Kashmir, “The beating up of students of GDC Pulwama must not be under-estimated, and we demand stern punishment to the culprits involved.”

 Meanwhile, several colleges across Kashmir witnessed students protest against the assault on students of Pulwama.

 GDC SHOPIAN and GOVERNMENT HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL

 Ten students were injured in Shopian after students of GDC Shopian and Government Higher Secondary School Shopian came out to protest in solidarity with the students of GDC Pulwama.

 The government forces used heavy tear smoke shells and pepper gas to disperse the students in Shopian in which 10 students were injured.

 KULGAM

Clashes between students and forces also erupted in Kulgam when students tried to take out a procession march. 

GOVT DEGREE COLLEGE BIJBEHARA

Peaceful protests were also held at Government Degree College Bijbehara.
